The WOOD4LIFE Helpdesk is now available, providing practical guidance and technical support to forest owners and forest owners' associations across Castilla-La Mancha.
Developed as one of the project's key dissemination and stakeholder engagement actions, the Helpdesk aims to transform project knowledge into practical support, helping local stakeholders advance towards more collaborative, active and sustainable forest management.
Managing fragmented forest ownership often presents technical, legal and organisational challenges. The WOOD4LIFE Helpdesk has been created to help overcome these barriers by offering tailored guidance throughout different stages of the process, from the first questions to the development of long-term management strategies.
Practical support for collaborative forest management
The Helpdesk provides access to personalised support in areas including:
- Legal guidance for the creation, renewal or strengthening of forest owners' associations.
- Technical assessment of forest properties and territorial characteristics.
- Identification of forest management opportunities.
- Development of strategic roadmaps adapted to each territory.
- Neutral facilitation between forest owners' associations and forest-sector companies.
- Access to practical resources, guidance documents and tools that support collaborative forest management.
The service also provides access to the Collective Management Toolkit, alongside additional resources that will continue to expand throughout the lifetime of the project.
Supporting local stakeholders
The Helpdesk has been developed specifically to support forest owners and forest owners' associations in Castilla-La Mancha. For this reason, the service and its supporting materials are currently available in Spanish. A similar service is planned for Italy in the future, to support forest owners in the Appennino Tosco-Emiliano area.
The initiative complements other WOOD4LIFE activities, including field demonstrations, stakeholder engagement events and the recently launched Tour de la Sierra, helping ensure that project results are translated into practical support for local communities.
A tangible project result
One of WOOD4LIFE's objectives is to demonstrate how active forest management can contribute to climate change mitigation and adaptation while generating environmental, social and economic benefits.
The Helpdesk represents a concrete step towards this objective by making technical expertise and project knowledge directly accessible to those responsible for managing forests.
By supporting collaboration between forest owners and facilitating informed decision-making, the Helpdesk contributes to healthier forests, stronger rural communities and a more resilient forest sector.
